Designed and built by the world renowned North American architect
Dan Blankenship, Terravista exceeds all expectations.
Here are his comments hole by hole:
Hole 1 - "The first hole is a medium length slight dogleg right par four that typically plays downwind. A generous bunker-free fairway makes your opening drive an easy one setting up a short iron to a large green with three possible pin placements. Stay out of the lone bunker short of the green and you can expect a par or better start."
Hole 2 - "The second hole is a visually intimidating par three with a green which sits on a peninsula surrounded by water. The wind can be a large factor in your club selection and we suggest taking enough club to arrive easily at the green. "
Hole 3 - "The third hole is a sweeping par five dogleg right that is an excellent chance for you to make an early birdie. Hit your drive right of the solo tree 250 yards from the tee. Getting on in two is tempting but requires a perfect shot to this small and narrow green that sits hanging over the Taipe river valley."
Hole 4 - "The forth hole is a par four sharp dogleg right. A correctly positioned drive played over the small tree on the inside corner of the dogleg will leave you with a short iron approach to a wide but shallow two-tiered green with a well positioned pot bunker in front. A par is expected but an errant drive could cause an adventure."
Hole 5 - "The fifth hole is the longest par five at Terravista. The generous looking fairway bottlenecks at the landing area but a long well positioned drive may leave you with a decision. Play the hole as a three shot par five or play over the trees on the right side and possibly reach the green in two. Good luck !!!"
Hole 6 - "The sixth is a true risk / reward short par four. Strategy and execution off the tee will determine how this hole will play. Drive conservatively to the left part of the fairway and you will have less than 100 yards to a tiny well-guarded green. Shoot aggressively over the fairway bunkers and you could arrive at the green almost guaranteeing a birdie. But be careful, a misguided drive could result in a bogey or worse."
Hole 7 - "The seventh hole is a long straight par four that may be the most demanding hole on the course. Usually playing against an ocean breeze, your drive needs to be long and straight, ideally just over the right corner of the large tree in the fairway. Your second shot will be a long or medium iron to a huge two-tiered green with a false front that rejects any shot landing short of its target."
Hole 8 - "The eighth hole is the shortest of the par threes. While this hole does not look very demanding, the ocean breeze makes your club selection and ball control important. Stay out of the right bunker and this should be an easy par."
Hole 9 - "The ninth hole is a medium length par four with a generous but evasive fairway. The ocean breeze tends to push your drive to the right where lots of trouble awaits. Play to the left half of the fairway with your drive and all you will have left is a medium iron shot to a well-guarded green."
Hole 10 - "The opening hole on the back nine is a short dogleg left par four. The drive looks intimidating but should not cause you problems if you choose a line just right of the fairway bunkers. The second shot will play downhill to a narrow two-tiered green. Land on the green on the correct tier and you could start the back nine with a birdie."
Hole 11 - "This beautiful but long par three is the most demanding of the par threes. A large and undulating green is a generous but tricky target for the required long iron or fairway wood. If you are good enough to find the green, a two putt is not a given. "
Hole 12 - "This is the shortest par four on the course but don’t let its length or the spectacular view from the tee break your concentration. The meanest bunker on the course is waiting short of the green for any over aggressive drive or miss-played second shot. Aggressive play and avoiding the bunker makes a birdie very possible."
Hole 13 - "The thirteenth hole is a straight away par five that gives you options. You can choose between two lines for your drive, the more direct and aggressive line left or the more conservative line right. If you avoid the cliffs and ocean with a good drive left the green can be reached in two. The green is large with three different pin placements which make putting very interesting."
Hole 14 - "This par three is the signature hole for Terravista. After you have taken photos with your group from every angle, don’t forget the task at hand. Your club selection depends on the ocean breeze at that moment. Pay close attention as the wind changes minute to minute. The large and receptive three-tiered green will test your putting skills."
Hole 15 - "This par four dogleg left has it all! From the tee you can see the Terravista cliffs and beaches for miles in both directions. The changing ocean winds make your drive to a partially blind plateau fairway a challenge. The green sits dangerously close to the cliffs and ocean. Making a par requires two very good golf shots."
Hole 16 - "This is the longest par four at Terravista and normally plays against the prevailing north wind. A good drive to the very generous fairway is just half the battle. Your second shot is normally 200+ yards to a large contoured green that is well guarded on the right side by two massive bunkers. When the winds are heavy a bogey is a good score."
Hole 17 - "This straight away par four is one of the most dramatic holes on the course. A good drive is needed to navigate two large fairway bunkers leaving you with less than 140 yards to a small well-guarded green 100 feet below the fairway. The green slopes severely from back to front making an up and down from over the green a real challenge."
Hole 18 - "The finishing hole is a double dogleg par five and a good hole to settle your bets. A good drive stays as close to the trees right as you dare (better players may want to risk cutting the corner over the trees!) A good second shot to the generous fairway will leave you with a delicate approach shot to a long but narrow three-tiered green."

Pascoal Mount
Monte Pascoal is 536m above sea level and was said to be the first point in Brazil sighted by the Portuguese fleet commanded by Pedro Álvares Cabral in 1500. It's 156km south of Porto Seguro, next to Caraíva.

It is located in the centre of the National Park that has the same name, 32km from the sea and surrounded by the rain forest. With two adjacent parks, Pau Brasil and Discovery Park, is unique in having access to eight beaches full of coconut palm trees, cliffs, dunes, sand-spits and river estuaries. Together they make an unforgettable visit.

The rivers Caraíva and Corumbau pass through the park and are navigable by small boats as far as the estuaries. On land, Indians serve as guides on two trails, one from the Visitor's Centre (700m) and the other to the summit of Monte Pascoal (1500m).

Porto Seguro Remarkable Features
All paths lead to Porto Seguro, an entry gate and start point for those who wish to learn about the first pages of Brazil's history, practice ecotourism and sports - radical or not -, walk around, eat well, learn ""lambaeróbica"" or just relax. It is an ecological paradise that offers a mixture of history, culture, art and natural beauties.

There are 90km of beaches protected by coral reefs, in addition to bays, rivers and water streams, coconut trees and the exuberant Atlantic Forest. Receptive tourism agencies organize ecological tours that may take from 3 hours to a whole day or even longer. The most frequent tours are to Recife de Fora, Coroa Alta, Trancoso and Caraiva For those who love flying, the local ultralight club provides them with the chance to see, by ultralight or helicopter flying, from a different point-of-view, the setting of the entire Brazilian "Discovery Coast".

The city never sleeps, and works virtually 24 hours a day. During the day, one can go to the beaches or walk through the sea and the woods. And the night life is very exciting. Invariably, the night begins at Passarela do Álcool (Alcohol Aisle), where dozens of tents are put up, selling a wide variety of fruit cocktails and "capetas" - drinks made of fruit juice and vodka. Tent decoration pays special attention to fruit arrangements, which catch the tourists' eye and win customers.

Shops open at peculiar hours in Porto Seguro: many malls and handicraft stores are open until midnight . For those who like sophistication there are restaurants that specialize in French, Japanese, Italian cuisine and so on. For those who want to eat well but more cheaply the restaurants where you weigh your food offer the best options in the city center or along the coast, with a variety of hot dishes and salads, as well as desserts.

At night, stay on the coast for lots of reggae, parties and live music in most of the restaurants and beach stalls. Various larger stalls offer shows with national and international attractions.
