Leaving from the historical center in direction to the North, starts an excursion along the pretty and generous coast of the island, formed by extensive beaches that remain practically deserted during the week and that present, during low tide, more than one km of sand. Calhau, São Marcos, Olho d’Agua and Araçagy are wonderful beaches. Fish has no lack of presence in the typical bars and restaurants where you can taste the best of the cuisine of Maranhão, with a lot of sun, breezes and waves of the sea.
