This is a very special package for those who like adventure, have only a few days available and do not mind sleeping on rustic inns. It is perfect to be more confident with the real Northeast of Brazil which is full of contrasts.
The Pole of the Parque dos Lençóis, on the oriental part of the State encompasses the municipal areas of Humberto de Campos, Primeira Cruz, Santo Amaro and Barreirinhas. Its major attraction is the National Park of Lençóis Maranhenses, an amazing natural phenomenon to which Barreirinhas is the gateway.
The National Park of Lençóis is an ecological paradise with 155,000 hectares of dunes, rivers, lakes and wetlands. A singular ecological phenomenon, it has been formed during thousands of years of wind movement. The landscape is astonishing and wonderful: a white sandy carpet without end in sight, as if you were on a desert. Unlike a desert however, there is plenty of rain and rivers in the region. It is the rain that actually creates the Lençóis and its landscape. The rain fills the uncountable lakes and the magnificent landscape. Some of the most famous lakes are the Lagoa Azul and the Lagoa Bonita for their beauty and excellent swimming conditions. Not to miss in your trip are the villages of Caburé, Atins and Mandacaru.
The Delta do Parnaiba is located at the northern part of the State, at the border with the State of Piaui and next to the villages of Tutóia, Paulino Neves and Araioses from where tours are organized.

Day -
Sao Luis / Barreirinhas
Transfer from your hotel in Sao Luis to the airport.
Morning embarkation in a twin-engine plane (6 seats) and fly to Barreirinhas (entrance door to the Park).
Arrival, transfer and accommodation at the pousada.
Departure for a toyota 4x4 tour until the Lagoa Azul (blue lake), inside the park, which is considered one of the most beautiful attractions of the region, a dream landscape. There white sand dunes surrounding a natural and clear water pool.
Overnight at Resort Porto Preguiça.

Day -
Barreirinhas / Cabure
Breakfast at the lodge.
Check-out.
Departure for a tour through the Preguiças River, in a motor boat, visiting the main fishing villages (Vassouras, Mandacaru and Cabure).
Arrival in Cabure, transfer to the lodge for check-in and overnight at Porto Buriti Lodge.

Day -
Cabure / Parnaiba
Breakfast at the lodge.
Check-out.
According to the tides, departure in 4x4 to Parnaiba city.
On the way, you will make brief stops in Rio Novo to visit dunes and lakes. The trip will take approximately 5 hours.
Arrival in Parnaiba and check-in.
Overnight at the Pousada dos Ventos.

Day -
Parnaiba
Breakfast at the lodge.
Morning departure for a motor boat tour through the Delta, visiting the Canarias island, the Dos Poldros island, igarape dos Periquitos and Morro Branco (with a stop for swims and photos).
Afternoon tour in 4x4 vehicle to the beaches of Luis Correia (Atalaia, Coqueiro, Carnaubinha) and Portinho Lake.
Return to the lodge for overnight.

Day -
Parnaiba / Sao Luis
Breakfast at the lodge and check-out.
Morning regular bus departure to Sao Luis. Approximate duration is 7 hours.
Arrival in Sao Luis and transfer from the bus station to your hotel.

Important remarks:
1. The below mentioned rates are per person, valid until December 2008
2. This package is not valid during Christmas, New Years, Carnival and Holidays.
3. Departures available only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays mornings.
4. The air flight Sao Luis / Barreirinhas has an approximate duration of 45 minutes.
5. You are allowed to bring a maximun 8kg luggage.

What to take:
Both the National Park of Lençóis and Delta das Americas are places for direct contact with nature. Since you will have boat tours, hiking, walks on dunes, and swimming at rivers and ocean, we suggest you to wear light clothes (shorts, short sleeves, swimming suit and sandals are a good choice). Also do not forget to pack, sunscreen, dark glasses, and hat. Mosquito REPELLENT can also be very helpful. |
