In order to really know and understand the local cultures there is nothing better than going to the place where most of its population really buys the food. Therefore, you will visit the typical and colorful São Joaquim Market. There you will find vegetables, fruits, meat, poultry, herbs, wicker handcraft and ceramics, leather and the statues of the Candomblé Orixás. And, of course, everything at a very popular price.
You will be guided through one of our largest and most inhabited districts, the Liberdade (Liberty) which is also considered the most African district of the city. The tour will finish with a visit to the day nursery Béu Machado, a social project maintained by volunteers, where 250 poor children, between 1 and 7 years old, spend their day studying and playing.
