Day -
Salvador da Bahia
Aug 14th'2008 - Thrusday
Breakfast.
Morning departure for a African-oriented historical tour. You will trace the African roots of Salvador on a city tour which combines the newer, modern section and the older Historical Center, the Pelourinho. This area was named after the pillory which stood in the main square, in front of the central slave market. You visit the Afro-Brazilian Museum and the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, the famous black church, built with meager resources over a period of almost 100 years. At Casa do Benin (Benin's House) you will be able to see the artists and sculptors works, mirrors of this vibrant city. The buildings might be European but the rest is African.
Return to the hotel.
The rest of the day is at leisure and meals are on your own.
Overnight at the hotel.
