The Pantanal, the largest contiguous wetland on the planet, declared a World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, is South America’s primary wildlife sanctuary. With a total area of approximately 150,000km2 and located in the center of the continent, the Pantanal is a biogeography mixing bowl containing elements of the Amazon Forest, the Caatinga, the Brazilian Savannah, the Atlantic Rainforest and the Paraguayan Chaco. This fantastic biodiversity includes: 698 birds species, 80 mammals, 260 fish species and 50 reptiles. Located amidst this unique and rare biological diversity is the Araras Eco Lodge(16º 30’ 42.3” South latitude; 56º 42’ 39.4” West longitude). Built in harmony with the environment, without renouncing comfort, the lodge is reachable all year-round by car via the Transpantaneira Park Road, 132 km (82 mi) south of Cuiabá (the capital of the State of Mato Grosso). From this lodge, with its enviably preserved surroundings, it is possible to do first-class bird-watching, trekking in pristine forest, canoeing, horseback riding, truck photo-safaris, night tours and much more, all under the assistance of expert bilingual naturalist guides.

Day -
Cuiaba / Pantanal
Arrival at Cuiabá/Várzea Grande airport or pick up at hotel and transfer to Pantanal lowlands.
While crossing the area, it is possible to spot and appreciate the local flora & fauna.
Late afternoon hike through surrounding area to a 12 m observation tower and a spectacular view of sunset.
After dinner, night walk to observe the South Hemisphere sky, hear and feel the nocturnal environment.
Overnight at Araras Eco Lodge.

Day -
Pantanal
After breakfast travel down private dirt roads, to Sentinela Camp on the edge of the Rio Clarinho.
Canoe tour to spot aquatic wildlife, birds and flora; possibility of piranha fishing. Brazilian barbecue style picnic lunch along the banks of the river.
Return to the lodge.
Enjoy sunset from our 25m high outlook.
Dinner and overnight.

Day -
Pantanal / Cuiaba
Early morning hike for sunrise.
Breakfeast at pool side, before your photo safari transfer to Cuiabá. Drop off at airport or city hotel.

Important remarks:
1. The below mentioned rates are per person, based on double room occupancy, and valid until June 2008.
2. This package is not valid during Christmas, New Years, Carnival and Holidays periods.
3. The activities described may be altered due to weather conditions, season or group make-up with the intent of maximizing your experience of the eco-system.
