The Amazon Village is classified as "Special Ecological Lodging" by Embratur - The Brazilian Tourism Bureau. The village consists of a central "open air" lodge surrounded by 20 bungalows, each one with two separate rooms.

Brief Hotel Localization: The Amazon Village is located 30 km (18.75 miles) from Manaus, on the banks of Puraquequara Lake, in the upper reaches of the Puraquequara River. Because of the high acidic pH level of the water, mosquitoes and viruses which cause dengue, cholera, malaria, yellow fever DOES NOT proliferate in the area. Access: By regional Boat, via the Meeting of the Waters phenomenon.

Tours ACTIVITIES The Amazon Village staff consists of bilingual jungle specialists, who guide our guests on the following excursions: RECONNAISSANCE TOUR (Duration: 03 hours): Departure around 09:00 hrs or 15:00 hrs in motorized canoe with guide to visit the river area inlets and floaded forest. SUNRISE TOUR (Duration: 02 hours): Departure around 05:30 hrs in motorized canoe with guide to admire the sunrise in the Amazon. Return in time for breakfast. SUNSET TOUR (Duration: 02 hours): Departure around 17:00 hrs in motorized canoe with guide to enjoy the sunset in the Amazon. Return in time for dinner. JUNGLE TREK (Duration: 03 hours): Departure around 09:00 hrs or 15:00 hrs walking or in motorized canoe with guide until appropriate area to enter the jungle. The guide will lead the hikers on a trek through the rainforest, telling them about the local flora and fauna. FISHING TRIP AND VISIT TO A NATIVE "CABOCLO" DWELLING (Duration: 03 hours): Departure around 09:00 hrs or 15:00 hrs in motorized canoe with guide to try to catch local fish, such as, tucunaré, tambaqui and piranha. Afterwards, travellers will learn about the customs and way of life of these native inhabitants, descendants of the indians. ALLIGATOR SPOTTING TOUR (Duration: 02 hours): Departure around 20:00 hrs in motorized canoe with guide, in search for alligators called "caimans". Once they are paralized by the light of the flashlight, their eyes go red, enabling the guide to easily locate them. The guide will try to catch one of them with his bare hands and, depending on its size, bring it aboard the canoe for observation. Afterwards, the "caiman" is safely returned to the waters. SCIENTIFIC TOUR (upon request): Departure can be at any time, on foot or by motorized canoe,with specialized scientific guide, who will be able to give more detailed information regarding the local flora and fauna.
